Brainstorming

Before starting the project, we decided to submit two ideas each.

• Brainstorming 1: night view of Manhattan
• Brainstorming 2: Coin laundry
• Brainstorming 3: New York Subway
• Brainstorming 4: DDR
• Brainstorming 5: Magician on magic circle
• Brainstorming 6: Duck’s wedding day

We chose Idea #1, as it requires few components, yet has a beautiful result.

Ideation

• LED lights as represent the actual lights of the city
• Coin - money operates the electricityWhen we first got the assignment to make a homemade switch with LED lights, the night view of Manhattan came to mind. We came up with the concept of 'paying 50 cents to see Manhattan at night. Then we decided to use LED lights to make the skyline and to use a coin as a conductor. The coin would be used as a switch to turn on the light.

• Coin, 9V battery, 220Ω resistor, LED lights, black paper, aluminum foil, and illustration of Manhattan buildings.
